And I almost missed it... :)
Sorry for the lateness of my update. We were without power at home at the beginning of the month. I used this experience to explain to the kids how important customer service, taking care of equipment, and doing the job that's assigned to you can be to everyone around you.
Upcoming Dates:
February 14 - Carnations for sale at school. (Cheer fundraiser)
February 15, 16, 17 - 8th grade parent meetings during school (parents should have received notice of specific time and date).
February 17 - Parent meeting for any 6th or 7th grader interested in trying out for the 2023-24 Cheerleading Squad (including mascots).
Follow Our Progress:
I post weekly agendas in Canvas. If you aren't connected to your child's Canvas classes, you can join by following this link. This will allow you to see all work posted in all courses.
Things I've Noticed:
This is the time of year that everyone starts to show how tired they are. :)
Some students tend to slip a little in their work ethic and the grades start being affected. It seems to be a little bit rougher this year, since it's the first "real" school year since Covid hit us. The expectations are back up to where they were in 2019, and it's taking some kids longer to get back in the groove. We're doing everything we can here to help them get their feet back underneath them, but if you notice anything that we can do better, or that you're concerned about, please contact your child's teachers!
Also, please make sure you're checking Skyward at least once a week with your child. I have them check their grades multiple times a week, and I try to do it daily.
Remember that the "Missing" grades section is misleading. Look at each class individually and check for low grades and zeroes.
Classroom Needs:
Please keep us in mind as you clean out drawers and toyrooms. :) We can use most kitchen items, tools, STEM toys and books, and anything that is job-related for almost any job. :)
USED items are wonderful! Please don't buy anything unless you really, really want to. Here's a partial list of what would be helpful.
- LEGO bricks
- SnapCircuits
- Ziploc bags - sandwich, quart, or multiple sizes
- Dish soap
- Dish brush
- Plastic bowls (microwave safe/reusable)
- Plastic plates (microwave safe/reusable)
- Mixing bowls
- Wax paper
- Cooling rack
- Kleenex
- Batteries - AA, AAA, C
- Pulse Oximeter
- Pencils
- Pens
And here's my Classroom Wish List from Amazon. It's a wish list, not a need list.
